The Deanshanger Divas put in another quality performance as they travelled away for the first time to face Blisworth Ladies and came away with a 5 - 0 triumph.
As the team left home, Layla was handed the keepers jersey, which she was not happy about, but then went on to put in a great performance between the sticks, showing good handling, getting distance on her kicks from hand along with sensible distribution from re-starts. At the back Jessica (aka Jessy J) was making her Divas debut, and she can be very pleased with how she played, never paniced, made some strong tackles and looked to pass at every opportunity. Along side her Kennedy had an outstanding game marshalling the defence all game, talking to the players along side her, as well as clearing her lines when needed, and choosing the right time to bring the ball out, or play a pass.
Amy, put in a outstanding performance in front of the back two, with some great covering play, and a range of passes that Iniesta would have been proud off, plus supporting the front three all game. Megan and Lauren always carried a threat when they went forward, either taking players on or passing dangerous balls into Amber, who was her tenacious and hard working slef again, never giving the defenders a minutes peace.
Blisworth had some talented players who were good with the ball at their feet, but the Divas passing game finally got the better of them. kennedy played out from the back to Amy who took it forward before picking a killer pass to Megan down the left, she took it on before sending over a great ball for Amber and Lauren, with the latter unleashing "the Hammer" of a right foot to crack the ball home. The Divas soon repeated the dose with another fluent passing move ending with Lauren again applying a bullet finish.
The second third saw Chloe come on to make her debut, and like Jessy J she slotted in well in midfield, and was unlucky not to score when she battled through on goal, only to delay her shot a little. Jessica also came on in midfield, and was a constant threat down the left as she showed some fine trickery on the ball as well as linking well with her defence and attack. Megan was up front and went close when she turned the ball just over from close range. One of the pleasing aspects of the performance was that the girls were confident to try things and despite sometimes making a mistake, they never allowed them to be costly. The highlight of the second quarter was a tackle by the tenancious Amber which was so strong players felt it back in Deanshanger.
The final third saw the Divas put the game safe, as Lauren completed her hat trick with "the Hammer" again banging the ball home. The whole squad can be very proud of their performance today as its not easy playing away from home for the first time, but they all played for one another, and keep their shape throughout. Lauren capped a fine captains display with a fourth goal, once again the Divas passing creating the chance, before Amy marked her "Girl of the Game" performance by rifling home number five.
