Report

Today’s away match - saw us play at home, as Water Eaton had a pitch double booked. The change of venue was the only difference as Water Eaton brought their own referee, ball and supplied the Jaffa cakes!

The first half’s line up saw Matthew in goal, Daniel and Aiden B in defence, Cameron in defensive midfield, Lewis and Alec in midfield and Alfie as striker, with Oliver, Jamie and Max coming on as substitutes also with Megan and Kennedy there as super subs to come on only if needed – as they were ‘resting’ for their upcoming Divas match.

With this being the last fixture of the season, all players were on top form from the whistle. The effort and energy was outstanding with Deanshanger making the most chances. After 10 minutes Water Eaton started to build up their momentum and after 20 minutes took the lead with their shot of the half. Deanshanger had most of the possession and created numerous chances – but to no avail. Half time score 1-0.

The second half’s line up saw Matthew in goal, Daniel and Aiden B in defence, Oliver D in defensive midfield, Max and Cameron as midfield and Alfie as striker, with Alec, Lewis and Jamie coming on as substitutes.

The second half started with Deanshanger making all the running once more. We saw some amazing runs down the line from Cameron – this lead to a powerful shot hitting the back of the net pulling Deanshanger level.  With their tails up and smiles coming back to faces, Deanshanger started to boss the game – the next goal saw Water Eaton lose the mojo with Max scoring his first of the game.  Deanshanger showed the quality all over the pitch. Deanshangers next goal, could well be up there with the best of the season – from any age group. With a cross coming from the left wing, Max positioned himself and struck a sweet volley ‘Van Persie’ style, which flew past the Water Eaton keeper.  Water Eaton were not down and out and started to play some neat football, keeping Lewis, Daniel, Aiden and Matthew busy and one such attack saw them come within one goal of Deanshanger.  Thankfully the players remained focused and with Max scoring his hat trick pulled out an unobtainable lead. Final score 2-4.

Many congratulations to all players, this win confirms Deanshanger Colts U10s as MKDDL Division 3, runners- up.
